Social doctrine of the church, christian democracy, organization of private business and the social market economy

Abstract

The present investigation is framed in a descriptive historical analysis on the influence of the Social Doctrine of the Church (D.S.I.), revised in some papal encyclicals, in the political-economic life of the democracy. It shows the form and method by which the Christian Democratic-oriented political parties assume and design models of socioeconomic development inspired by the doctrinal teaching of the Catholic Church manifested through the so-called Doctrinal Encyclicals, which many Popes have documented in order to influence the conduct of democratic states from the late 1800s to the present day. Specifically, it focuses on the doctrinal contribution of the DSI in the organization of private companies, through the Co-management system proposed in the Social and Ecological Market Economy (ESEM) model that the German Christian Democratic government of Konrad Adenauer assumed at the end of the 1950s and during the European recovery period of the Second World War.
