Effects of the wiki as a strategy in the collaborative learning of the participants of the master's degree in open education and distance from the Open National University

Abstract

The Wiki in Distance Education conducts and facilitates interaction between groups, allowing to exchange ideas. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effects of the Wiki as a strategy in the collaborative learning of the participants of the Master in Open and Distance Education. The methodology assumed was a study under the modality of experimental field research, through quasi-experimental research with a sample taken as a control. In this study, the population was made up of the forty (40) participants enrolled in cohort XII of the 2014-2 Lapse of said master's degree. The selected sample was the 14 (Fourteen) participants of the Methodology I course of the 2014-2 Lapse, as this is the selected control group. The information was obtained through the application of a questionnaire composed of 14 items in Likert´s scale. Once the information was processed, the following conclusions were reached: In the curricular units of the Open and Distance Education Master's program of the National Open University, the use of a wiki is often necessary since when applying the instrument after the use of the same participants consider that it allows them a fluid dialogue, the group work helps them to better understand the contents, the climate is harmonious with the whole group but the facilitators must improve their communication with the participants. In addition, the student's T showed that there is no significant difference before and after the application of the wiki.
