The changes in the globalized world require organizations, markets and society in general to analyze and contrast theories that address the development and implementation of economic models (based on). Hence, the discussion of concepts of economy, business and social economy emerges in the face of new realities and economic practices that seek the satisfaction and quality of life of societies. Based on a bibliographic and documentary review, it is intended to relate the concepts of economy, business and the solidarity economy model, considering some experiences in Latin America. Finally, it is reflected that regardless of the company's conception of its nature and objectives, within the solidarity economy model, the production units search for and produce goods and services, satisfy needs and make efficient use of the resources they possess in favor of generate wealth, progress and development, with a social focus, where ownership and membership respond to collective interests.
