Didactic strategy plan for optimizing reading comprehension skills in high school students

The present study aimed to develop a plan of teaching strategies to achieve reading comprehension in students overall average Fe y Alegría "Variquisimeto" Educational Unit located in the parish Juan de Villegas, municipality Irribarren Lara state. The methodology used in the research was the social project, based on studies by Pérez Serrano (2005) that includes four phases: diagnosis, which allowed contact and community outreach, in addition to the location of problem situations and possible solutions to through its three dimensions: community, institutional and participatory. The planning phase included the design of actions to general secondary teachers in relation to teaching reading comprehension strategies. The implementation phase included the development of four days based on the following issues: training in the skills approach axis literacy, alternative strategies for reading comprehension, critical reading, reading comprehension and reasoning and application of comprehension in students. In accordance to the technical evaluation phase that facilitated the collection of information for the assessment and impact of the actions taken during the research process were used. It was possible that teachers apply various teaching reading strategies in their daily practices, fostering reading comprehension of students.
