Magnetic Properties of the semimagnetic semiconcuctor Zn0.40Mn0.60Ga2Se4

We report on some of the magnetic properties of the semimagnetic semiconductor alloy Zn0.40Mn0.60Ga2Se4 which belongs to the semimagnetic semiconductor alloy system Zn1- x MnxGa2Se4. The analysis of the magnetization curves indicates that for temperatures 4,2 below K the system is in the antiferromagnetic phase (AF), whereas for T>4,2 K the system is in a paramagnetic phase (P). From the M vs. H curves the susceptibility response was calculated for T= 2, 4,2 and 10 K. The analisys showed an antiferromagnetic interaction between the Mn+2 ions with Curie–Weiss temperature q » -13.4 K and not all the Mn+2 ions contribute to the magnetization.
