Planning in the Latin American prison system

Abstract

The development of planning in the Latin American prison system conforms to the guidelines issued by the United Nations, the European Community and the Inter- American Development Bank, each country assumes programs and projects consistent with its needs and the reality of the system prison in each region. In this sense, the present documentary research allowed the review and description of all the planning policie simplemented in Latin America in the last eight (08) years, particularly highlighting the scope of the proposals made in Colombia, Panama, Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay, El Salvador and Venezuela. Being able to point out that all government instances in each of these countries seek to preserve the human rights of the prison population, developing project planning that meets infrastructure, security, health and education needs, as well as progressive attention to leisure time. supported by productive work, which enables the reintegration of this population into society.
